Zee news reveals that a petition was signed by Generation
Next with the PMO. The petition made special reference to the case of Hawala
operator, Raychand Soni, who had been arrested in Aug this year and had
admitted to funding casino gamblers, besides high-level bribery. Soni was
released after two weeks and later claimed that he was just a businessman.
In the letter, Kamat, who also holds position as Secretary
of opposition party, Congress, has pointed out to this connection and provided
Soni’s Dubai and Goa mobile numbers and asked his calls to be probed further by
enforcement authorities.
Kamat complained to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying
that, "We have learnt that he is involved in hawala operations for casinos
which are based in Goa and their clientele as well, which money is not
accounted for and hence causes enormous loss to the state exchequer.”
