Singapore First Indian Professional Poker Player

Dhanesh Chainani is a 25 year old fresh graduate with a degree in Finance. Like all other young people, he should be joining some money firm and should live on the salary he’ll be getting. But Dhanesh is different as he is Singapore’s first Indian Poker Player and playing on high stakes at live poker events professionally.

Even after enough discouraging moments from his parents and other family members, he managed to convince them by showing the statistics of his winning hands and the profit he gained by playing both online and live poker. His love for poker began when he saw his friend playing online poker. He joined and trained under on low stake tables and practice 10 hours a week with the help of software like Poker Tracker and Sit n Go Wizard. After playing and training for one week, he already made $1000 by playing $2 tournaments and it was the moment when he decided that he’s up for the game.

His favorite poker player is Mike McDonald, who is also a young player of 25 years age from Canada. He met him in a high roller event in Macau and liked the way how he approaches the game seriously.

If you are new to the poker arena, his advice is not to go out of control.  Also read “Let There Be Range” by TriSlowhabit Nguyen and Cole, CTS South. The book although focuses on online cash gaming, there is a lot you can learn about poker basics from this book.
